Downing Hawaii Surf Shop Sandys Skim Slam Sat Nov 15th 2008
Mens 21 & Under 7 contestants/Mens 21 & Over 6 contestants/ Womens - 5 contestants/ Mens Advanced (All Ages) - 7 contestans. Total 25 competitors
All skimmers competed in 2 heats of 10 minutes. Three judges gave scores rating each running attempt a 1-10. The 2 highest frontside, 2 highest backside, and the next highest score were added up for each judge. The highest score possible would be five waves at 10 points each multiplied by 3 judges equals 150. The four highest scoring competitors from Heat A & Heat B moved on to a 12 minute Final Heat and the scoring started over. The Final Standings below are the scores from each divisions Final Heat.

Exile Skimboards located in San Clemente Southern California first introduced its line of skimboards in 2002 and quickly made a name for itself in the skimboarding industry. Maui Skimmers has been making their unique style of high performance skimboards since 1986. A very popular style of skimboard used on Maui but its shape and design is very functional on any size shorebreak. Currently there are no shops on Oahu (that we know of) that sell Maui Skimmers. Victoria Skimboards located in Laguna Beach Southern California is undoubtedly the largest name and manufacturer of skimboards. Freesurfpix.com is a website operated by a professional freelance photographer named Greg. If you have never been to this website before and you go to Sandys a lot you might just find some pictures of yourself. You can copy the pic from the website or buy a good quality version for $3. Greg will be our professional photographer for the contest and freesurfpix.com will have plenty of pictures for you afterwards.

Hawaiianwatersports.com is a surf shop located inside of HIC in Kailua located at 354 Hahani Street Kailua, HI 96734 Tel: 808-262-KITE (5483). This shop sells gear for everything from stand up surfing, Kite surfing, and kayaking. They also are the only shop (that we know of) that sells Exile skimboards on Oahu. They also have a good selection of Victoria skims and also a smaller brand name of skim for flatland.
